Orange County NR#19 - Hurricane Harvey

September 2nd, 2017  08:33

Orange County Emergency Management

Telephone 409-882-7895 ·  Fax 409-670-4143

Beginning tonight, 9/2/20017, a curfew will be in effect “county wide” from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. until further notice.  County and City officials are working to keep our community safe and give our residents peace of mind during this overwhelming event.

The Point of Distribution supplies arrived and the military has set up these PODS in 3 accessible areas in the county. This will be a drive thru POD for water, ice, and MREs (meals ready to eat).  You will need to drive through and the military will load supplies into your vehicle.  We understand this has been a devastating time for a large percent of our community.  Please be patient at these sites when waiting for your supplies.  We are working to get resources to our citizens as soon as we can.

The POD sites are located at the following 3 locations:

Northway Shopping Center

3777 N. 16th Street

Orange, Texas 77632

Vidor Middle School

2500 Hwy 12

Vidor, Texas 77662

Hwy 62 & Hwy 12

Mauriceville, Texas 77626

As soon as a Bridge City POD can be fully supplied and managed, we will release that location.

A Mobile Medical Unit has been established in the parking lot of the Baptist Hospital located at 608 Strickland Dr, Orange, TX 77630.  The MMU is capable of handling medical emergencies equivalent to those handled in an urgent care type facility.  Ambulances are also available to respond to emergencies throughout the county. As of 4 p.m. today, the MMU doctors and nurses had seen 32 patients. Nine of those patients are waiting to be transferred to the hospital. Patients that are transferred will be taken to Lake Charles until area hospitals have been re-opened.
